The sacrifices made for love.

Lawless is not something I would normally read, but after reading King and Tyrant last year, I knew it was time to face my fears and head back to scary land. This is a dark read for me. I know there are darker books out there, but this is probably my limit. There is murder, violence, crime, cheating, disrespect for authority and plain old nastiness. But it's absolutely fascinating. I can't help but look into the lives of the characters and wonder if it's somewhat real. Are there men who do not hesitate to snuff out a life? Do women really degrade themselves by running out of motel rooms naked? Can you drive safely after (or while) smoking weed? I can't help but read and think they're a little unreal and an escape from reality... my reality anyway.
Bear's history hurt to read. We find out a little bit about his mother, what life was like growing up as a biker and having the meanest SOB for a father. The hardest part was seeing through his eyes the torture he suffered at the hands of his enemy. No wonder he had nightmares and escaped reality with booze, drugs and babes. Each revelation gave me a bit more of an understanding of how he came to be the man he is. I wanted him to find peace, but by the end of Lawless, it's still out of reach.
I loved meeting Cynthia...not Cindy, only her mum calls her that. She prefers Thia, because that's what her daddy likes. She's a little spitfire ten year old who works part time at the service station. One day, things go a little pear shaped and there's a gun pointed in her face. Her hero is a beautiful biker named Bear. He fixes the problem and gives her a ring to keep (payment not to tell the cops) and tells her to come see him if she's ever in trouble. The little girl falls in love with the biker and remembers his offer.
Thia's life falls apart seven years later and she ends up needing Bear after all. Unfortunately, Bear is not in a good headspace and is definitely not ready to be anyone's Knight in Jeans and Biker Boots. The ring was supposed to be a joke, but someone forgot to tell the little girl. Bear decides to fix her problems quickly and get back to his self-destruction plans.
Things get out of hand and Bear and Thia's life is in danger. The more dangerous the situation, the more protective Bear becomes. There's a fairly big age difference between them which makes Bear hesitant to take things to a sexual relationship. Eventually they can't help themselves and you can see their feelings deepen.
T. M. Frazier has a remarkable talent for taking me out of my comfort zone (willingly) and making me enjoy (maybe not the right word) subjects I would normally avoid. This series is awesome and I can't wait for the next installment.

Buying the hubster a motorcycle and becoming a BBB!

I was already hooked, but after finishing Bear’s story, I am a flat out MC addict. I have always been picky about my MC reads, but this storyline and its characters continues to blow me away.
I loved Bear in the first two books but was a little disappointed that he didn’t get the girl. After reading Lawless, I completely get it and realize that his story just wouldn’t have worked any other way.
After being hit a devastating blow with the loss of someone close to his heart, Bear is forced to make a choice between his friends and his family. When the choice is made, he is forced to walk away from the only life that he has ever known. Struggling with his identity, is never a problem that he has had to face and constantly looking over his shoulder, is starting to take its toll on him.
Living his life where the days blend into one hazed disappointment after another, Bear has subconsciously thrown away his drive and self-respect. That is until a forgotten promise that he made as a joke many years ago, comes back to haunt him. He is faced with the decision to stay and fight for something that he feels undeserving of or walking away and slipping back into the lonely abyss that his life has become.
Thia has had a hard life. Working multiple jobs to support her family business, she doesn’t have time for the normal things that girls her age do. No slumber parties, no dances and no first kisses, Thia just struggles to make it from one day to the next. An unforgotten chance encounter when she was a young girl is the only hope tragedy strikes. She just knows that all she has to do is collect on the promise that was made to her so many years ago and everything will be fine. What she discovers is everything is anything but fine and she has gotten more than bargained for.
Even if you are not a fan of MC books, I will guarantee that you will love this series. With King, Doe, Bear and so many more colorful and intricate characters, King, Tyrant and Lawless will all leave you buzzing with excitement and anxiously begging for more.

I'm in the minority. I didn't like it.

**MY REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS**
After what happened to Abel "Bear" McAdams in King/Tyrant we've all been looking forward to his story. But I have to say I'm disappointed. I loved the way Bear and Thia initially met but it was downhill from there. Almost everything irritated me.
I would have liked more resistance from Bear. After months of drowning himself in whores, cocaine, and whiskey he's done just like that after seeing a picture of Thia? Not likely. It all happened way too fast. And then he didn't even flinch at her not-quite-legal/barely legal status. I'm not saying Bear is a good guy but that's usually a sure fire way H's lose their hard on. Not Bear though. So the sex scenes were a real turn off for me. And he definitely doesn't know a damn thing about helping a girl who's been violated. That scene was just ridiculous. Gratuitous even.
And Thia. Oy. I understand Frazier needed to create a reason for Thia to call on Bear but it's pretty far-fetched to think after what happened that Thia would show up at an MC compound rather than call the police...who she's friendly with! She's friends with the deputy FFS! I just thought Frazier wrote Abby and Doe so magnificently, I thought Thia was a let down. She was a brat. But now Bear and Thia are both wanted. But you'll have to wait for book two to find out what happens.
The scene in the row boat where Bear finally started talking was much needed but it was pretty much too late for me. And that cliffhanger? Not sure how that's possible and not sure I care to find out.
