Oh my, Oh my, Oh my...this is an intense, sexy, mysterious, funny and suspenseful read! Bravo!!

If I could I would give this installment and this book 10 stars so far.
Part 2 is a wild ride and suspenseful and sexy! Mel and Luke are thrust together as Mel goes to pick up her payment for the job of picking up The Scarlet Emerald. When she arrives at the bank and open the safety deposit box, all she finds is business card with Luke Torres' name and number on it...so it's back to Torres' territory and back to the home that she broke into to steal the emerald. When she arrives she finds Luke's sister, Cassie, kidnapped by vampires, Luke believed that Mel had kidnapped Cassie. Mel reveals that she thinks Cassie has been struck by a very powerful hex and brings in her past partner and it seems ex-friend, Krista (there is a mystery between Mel and Krista and their relationship that we don't know about, yet) and they start to put together a plan to steal an anti-hex powder from a warlock to break the hex and release Cassie. Luke and Mel come together and make a bargain to get the powder and break the hex and Luke will give Mel her reward that he took from the safety deposit box. They travel to Mexico to the palace of Marco Aguilar to steal the anti-hex powder. Mel and Luke attend a party at Marco's home and while there Luke spots the man/shifter/alpha, Inicio Nunca, who murdered his father and stole (became alpha) of Luke's father's pack. Luke doesn't believe that anyone will recognize him but he is wrong. Marco and others recognize him and soon draw the murderer's attention to Luke's presence and he remembers Luke from all those years ago (Luke was 5 years old then). Mel also is surprised to see her other sometimes partner, Bob at the party and doesn't know why he is there. After dinner, Mel leaves the party and goes to find the powder and she finds it and takes what she needs and gets out signaling Luke that she was out and he worked his way out, after meeting up with Nunca's goons and they met up at the rendezvous point and make their way back to the safe house to leave Mexico the next day. Mel tends to Luke's injuries and a sexy scene starts to come together but then Luke's phone rings and even though he doesn't want to, he has to answer it. The moment broken and Mel walks away but they both wish the phone had never rung and so does the reader.
The next morning, Mel and Luke get to the airport and find Bob there waiting for them and asks for a ride back to the states. Before getting on the plane Mel and Bob are given sometime to talk privately and Bob asked Mel a question that takes her by surprise "Do you plan on telling your new mate about any other jobs I've worked?" And all of sudden Mel is struck with the word Mate!! This runs around in her head and she hopes it isn't true but also hopes that it is. After getting under way, Mel tells Bob what is going on (minus telling him that Cassie is Luke's sister) and how Bob can help and they begin to formulate a plan but nothing really good.
They arrive back at Luke's home and find everything is normal and Krista takes the powder and begins her work on it while Bob works with Cassie. After Krista has the powder ready, she locks herself into Cassie's room and begins her work but soon things start to go wrong and Krista's anti-hex work and powder throw Cassie into her first shift and Cassie is wild and a not human thinking animal and claws Krista bad, drawing blood and then tries to do more damage but Luke steps in and lets Cassie draw his blood to take the attention away from Krista. Cassie is having difficulty completing her first shift and Mel shifts and hits Cassie with claws drawing the shift to heal her and throwing the shift into coming faster and faster until finally Cassie has completely shifted, then Krista uses a blow dart and tranquilizes Cassie so that she can sleep. Mel still in her shifted form, black leopard, lies down beside Luke and props her head on his thigh, so with Cassie lying beside Luke on one side and Mel in leopard form on the other, Luke rests for a few seconds and then he knows that he must meet his enemy and end this. Bring it on!
This installment is intense, sexy, mysterious, funny and suspenseful just as the series has been so far. Kate Rudolph has me eating out of the palm of her hand, I can't wait to see what happens next to Mel, Luke, Krista, Bob, Cassie, Maya and the rest of the gang. Will Nunca return to haunt Luke? Will Marco come after Mel for stealing his powder? Will they find out who kidnapped Cassie? Will they get the emerald back? But the biggest question: will Luke and Mel give into the pull of the mate and fall in love? We will just have to stay tuned! By the way, I received this book free in exchange for an open and honest review.

Mel and Luke make heat

Mel is so sure that she is going to get her pay and leave Luke the hot alpha behind, but fate has a surprise for her! !!! Not only did she not get it, but Luke left her his calling card. Luke had believed that she had kidnapped his sister and is hot on her trail. When his sister is found, she reveal that her kidnappers were vampires. Mel is there and realized that his sister has a hex on her placed by a powerful witch. She and Luke strike a bargain, she will help break the hex for return of the necklace. She enlisted the help of her partner in the original theft. The trip will be dangerous. The sexual tension between her and Luke is heating up. While in Mexico to steal the cure, Luke encountered the man who killed his father when he was only a young boy. This makes things a little more dangerous. Mel also meet the 3rd person who helped her steal from Luke originally. Things are getting more interesting. They pull off the theft and escape with minor bruises to Luke. Bob, the 3rd partner agree to help them if he can get a ride out of the country with them. When they return to Luke's, Krista, Mel's witch partner try to break the hex, but it go horribly wrong. Luke's sister had never had her first shift and her body chose just this time to shift. Luke and Mel had started a very hor sexual mating the previous night and both was feeling the connection but did not want to admitt it, because they are so very different in their life styles. First they have to see his sistet safely through her shift, then meet the vampire's. Will they be able to remove, the hex, will he learn the reason the vampires took his sister and will he and Mel finally accept that they are mates. I received this ARC copy with the promise of a honest review and I say this 2nd book has raised the heat and I am waiting for book 3. Bring it on!
