Nothing new here!

I hesitated buying this because I have several books promoting the raw food lifestyle already now I wish I hadn't spent the money. It is overpriced. There is no new info here. He is energetically motivational and may be good for people just starting into raw foods. Most of the info is found for free on the internet already. I guess if the price were lower it may be worth it. Just not worth the money.

Shocking advice

What do you get when you mix pseudo science with hippie propaganda? Heal Yourself 101. Overall I like the book. I've read other nutrition books like "Navy Seal Nutrition" and "The Abs Diet" and "The Harvard Guide to Nutrition" but none were nearly as controversial as this. I'm glad I bought it and I think even the most avid dieter or researcher will learn something. A lot of the claims I would take with a grain of salt. He tells you to always eat raw food because cooking kills nutrients, humans are herbivores and get a colonic. The controversy arrives when he recommends we eat grass like a cow, clean our butts with garlic to kill parasites and eat weeds growing in sidewalk cracks. Is it worth $30? No, I don't believe so. But definitely $15-$20. Some paragraphs have a lack of focus and it will frustrate the reader that just wants facts and advice without fluff. Papaya was recommended to me on three different pages so the repetition and editing could use some work. I think the author is a spiritual man and eccentric character that warrants some interest. I also think people will be googling a lot of advice in this book just to see if he is a revolutionary or a nut job. Buy this book if you don't care about $30 and none of the conventional diet or nutrition standards are working for you.

Update, a year later I raise my review from 3 to 4 stars. Primarily because I've heard a few "insane" claims corroborated by medical and or nutrition experts. Also check out Markus Rothkranz on youtube. He has a few recipe videos I literally use every week.

Interesting Book

I've read alot of books on nutrition & natural healing. This book isn't my favorite, but I did find it interesting, picked up on some new ideas and read some information i already new. It is also vague in some topics and over emphasizes some others. Explaining something once is enough for me. I do feel Markus is very inspirational and will help keep some people motivated in regards to healthy living. It's obviously working for him. I ordered the book after watching some of his videos. There are parts of the book that speak opposite of what i've heard other natural healing people speak of(Dr. Andrew Weil in regards to soy)and i've been following Dr. Weil for close to two decades now. That's working very well for me. The reason i share that information is because, some of the changes/advice recommended in this book are a wee too radical & drastic for me. I recommend searching for Markus' free videos(there's many) and decide for yourself before purchasing.

A Decent Industry Overview Marred by Incomprehensibly Bad Writing

This book is a useful high-level overview of the digital advertising/marketing space. It offers good insights into certain job functions within that ecosystem, most specifically media planners, media buyers, and ad traffickers. It also offers a good general overview of the core ad types and the core feature set offered by the most popular ad servers. To that end it has proven to be a good purchase for me overall, as I am a creative developer who was hoping to gain a broader understanding of the whole digital advertising ecosystem.

Unfortunately I have 2 major gripes about the book: 1) It's completely useless on a technical level. Don't buy it expecting to gain anything but the most surface level of understanding for how any of the actual gears of the online ad world fit together. This is in no way a technically informative book. 2) This is without a doubt the most difficult book to read I have ever encountered, owing to an overwhelming abundance of grammatical errors, typos, incomplete sentences, and just plain bad writing across the board. Every single page of the book seems to have AT LEAST 2 blatant errors that should have been flagged by an editor. I'm not even a very good writer, and I felt that I found something that was just plain wrong, from a writing perspective, in almost every single paragraph. Overall the writing measures up to perhaps a 10th grade student's level, and I must admit that I was frequently left scratching my head wondering if the author learned English as a second language (and not well learned). It's that bad.

Final word –�as a high level overview of the digital ad space, I'd give it 4 stars. As a technical book, which its title implies it is, I give it 1. The writing, well, that deserves maybe .25. So overall I give it a generous 2 star rating. There is value in this book, as long as you can stomach the atrocious writing and editing and parse the value after trudging through that minefield.

Self-publishing is not an excuse for really bad English

The book provides an interesting but shallow overview of the industry. But the English is SO BAD and with so many mistakes that is difficult at times to follow the ideas. While the author might have experience in the tech side, it is obvious that never worked for an agency or as a marketer. The Marketer perspective is nothing but stereotypes of the profession.
My recommendation to the author - get a real editor. While there might be value in the ideas presented, the language and presentation totally diminish it.

I have been in Ad-Tech space for the last four years specializing designing programmatic Ad Buying algorithms for AdTech companies powered by machine learning & big data analysis. This book has been suggested to me by a colleague. I've found values in the book specially the efforts the author put together to cover the Ad-Tech spectrum from the Publishers end to the Advertisers end. I think the book is valuable specially for non-heavy technical people who want to enter the Ad-Tech & need to get a better understanding of the space such as who the players are and how different tech pieces work together to deliver the ad serving services.

Due to my heavy tech background, I would rather to see deeper technical materials & discussions in the book. But, that's only my personal preference and probably doesn't reflect the audience set that the author has been targeting in this book.

An especially good Bible commentary

Nahum Sarna, the general editor of the JPS Commentary series, who passed away just recently, was one of the greatest biblical scholars of the twntieth century and the mentor of many other scholars. He had a keen mind, was extraordinarily friendly to everyone, and was greatly admired. It was a pleasure to talk and learn from him.

Sarna offers his readers a great deal of information in this volume. Besides commentaries on every verse which draws from close to a hundred ancient and modern sources, Jewish and non-Jewish, religious and non-religious, he introduces each section with a brief scholarly and interesting summary, over fifty in all. He also includes some three dozen excurses on such subjects as angeology, the meaning of the akeda, the moral issue of Jacob's behavior, and the name Israel.

Examples of his commentaries include comparing the opening of Genesis with the Mesopotamian Emuna Elish, which shows that the initial verse should be translated "When God began to create heaven and earth." The Hebrew word for "God," Elohim, is not a personal name, but a general Hebrew word for deity and can refer to pagan gods. God's first creation, light, serves as a symbol of life, joy, justice, and deliverance. This light, independant of the sun, became the subject of many rabbinic comments.

Useful, Illuminating Commentary

I first encountered this series in seminary (Presbyterian). I very much appreciate the layout: Hebrew text and English translation at the top (upper 1/4 to 1/3 of the page), with verse by verse commentary at the bottom of the page. Sarna includes several excursuses (excursi?) at the end of the volume. Sarna seems to employ the historical-critical method in his interpretation, while at the same time offering some speculative reflections upon the psychological states of the patriarchs and other figures of Genesis. As with any commentary, each reader will have to make his or her own decisions as to the helpfulness and insightfulness of the interpretation. I find many of the comments helpful. Coming at the text from a Christian perspective, I especially appreciate Sarna's Jewish perspective on the text. For readers not used to Hebrew, it may be helpful to note that the commentary, like the Hebrew Bible, reads from right to left ("backwards" for people used to reading left to right).

Fantastic Commentary That Should Be Added To Your Library

I love this commentary. I teach Sunday School in a Methodist Church. I love the Jewish exegetical style of study but, since I don't read Hebrew, I have had trouble finding something I could understand. This is geared toward the English reader and is very detailed. Each verse is broken down and gets at least a page of commentary.It's understandable and helps me understand the nuances of the Hebrew language that I just don't get reading the Bible in English. I highly recommend.
